I have recognised the importance of electronic dance music in schools and want to support this aspect of music education, by working with schools to offer innovative music technology projects, to enable students access a wide range of music opportunities which will enhance their learning and personal development.

I believe in the fundamental right to experience a high-quality music education for all children and young people, in and out of their schools.

It’s my privilege to be able to work with schools and educate the younger generation to become better, stronger people.

Hello, I’m Ian Hoskins Founder and CEO at Mixmania Records.

 

I have recognised the importance of electronic dance music in schools and want to support this aspect of music education, by working with schools to offer innovative music technology projects, to enable students access a wide range of music opportunities which will enhance their learning and personal development.

MAIN AIM

The main aim of the projects is to develop the fundamentals of electronic music production, music production and audio engineering alongside developing an understanding of music theory and the heritage of electronic music.

The experience involves numeracy, literacy, geography, and history skills it’s also an opportunity to encourage creativity, confidence building, learning to collaborate. We create a sense of belonging, as students will become part of our musical family and community.

At the end of each project, pupils can share and evaluate their musical outcomes with their class, in school assemblies, with family and friends, celebrate their achievements and to showcase their new skills and what they have learnt.

The pupils then become part of our Mixmania Records family and global community they get recognised as electronic dance music producer legends which goes on to help build with other classes and staff in school.

Whether it’s explaining basics of rhythm using “four on the floor” beats or how to understand melodies by learning a “hook” of a particular song, dance music could provide many rudimentary benefits to students learning music for the first time.

We want to inspire and help develop students as electronic music producers and to use technology that can help support their musical instrument playing and signing eg. make a beat to accompany vocals or record a live instrument.

At the end of the projects most pupils will want to continue to develop their music technology skills including setting up lunchtime, after school clubs or to continue with the software independently at home. Which we will help guide, support students, teachers or parents with and to come up with effective ways to make this happen.
